Roll of thunder mildred taylor5/7/2023 ![]() ![]() The next morning the bus came racing over the road like it always did, and when the bus-driver saw the puddle, he wanted to race into it to amuse the kids who were in the bus, but the bus rode into the puddle and fell in it. But later, they wanted revenge, so they dug a hole, and filled it with water. ![]() Sometimes they were earlier then the bus, mostly not. It’s a long way all to The Great Faith Elementary and Secondary School, one of the largest black schools in the country, and every day a bus of a white race school is racing through the puddles in the road they have to walk. The book starts at the time that Cassie and her brothers head on for school. T.J.: He mostly joined Cassie and her brothers walking to school, but Cassie and Little Man didn’t like T.J. He wasn’t home very much because of this job. Papa (David): He had a job at the railroad. Mama (Mary): She was tawny-colored, thin and sinewy, with delicate features in a strong-jawed face. Clayton Chester was his second name, but no one, ever called Little Man Clayton Chester unless she or he meant business. He never owed dirt or tears or stains to maar anything he owned. Christopher Jon: A short round boy, he took little interest in troublesome things, prefers to remain on good terms with everyone. Stacey: He was definetely the strongest person in the family, and he took interest in troublesome things, even when he knew he would get whipped by his mom and dad. ![]()
